Moving from Shenzhen to Vancouver

Vancouver, Canada's third-largest city, enjoys a mild climate with pleasant seasons throughout the year, and its lawns stay green and flowers bloom profusely. Vancouver's beautiful scenery not only captivates tourists but has also earned it worldwide recognition as one of the most livable cities, attracting a large number of overseas immigrants to Canada. In particular, Vancouver has a large Chinese population, so many new Chinese immigrants do not feel out of place in a foreign country but rather as familiar as if they were in their own homeland. Mr. Yang from Shenzhen is one of these immigrants.

After immigrating to Canada and buying a house in Vancouver, Mr. Yang found that the furniture inside was European-style and not to his liking, so he ordered a brand-new set of rosewood furniture from China to be shipped to Canada. He found Seapoe Relo through a friend's introduction. Regarding Mr. Yang's moving needs, since the furniture being shipped was brand new, according to Canadian government regulations, an 8% tariff and 13% consumption tax would need to be paid. Keeping the client's interests in mind, Seapoe's customer service staff suggested that the furniture be packed by Seapoe's packing team and declared as used goods, which could effectively avoid the tariff and consumption tax. Mr. Yang accepted the staff's suggestion, and after receiving the quote, immediately signed the shipping contract.

Mr. Yang's furniture was still at the furniture factory, so a couple of days earlier, Seapoe's staff brought packing materials to the factory to collect and pack the goods. Below are on-site packing photos:

Notes on Moving from Shenzhen to Vancouver

1. The Canadian government stipulates that new immigrants or citizens residing at the customs location may bring their personal effects and property that they have owned and used at their place of residence for more than 6 months into Canada duty-free. Brand-new items must be truthfully declared to Canadian customs, and tariffs and consumption tax must be paid.

2. Canada's inspection and quarantine laws are quite strict. The Canadian customs inspection and quarantine department has very broad powers and does not allow new immigrants to bring in items such as animal and plant seeds, unprocessed meat, or untested poultry and livestock. So friends wishing to bring such items should consider carefully.

3. It is recommended to bring some Chinese-style furniture and decorations. As for electrical appliances, Canada's national voltage is 110V, while domestic appliances are generally 220V. If bringing electrical appliances, it is advisable to purchase matching household transformers.
